Respira Sano’s Community Health Workers Had Their First Home Visit
BRAWLEY, CA – On September 25, 2015, Community Health Workers (CHWs) from Respira Sano Program had their first visit to one of the Imperial Valley families enrolled in the project.
During this visit, two of the CHWs introduced the program, explained the visits objectives and discussed about the main goals of the project. CHWs conducted the Home Environment Assessment; this is an evaluation to detect asthma triggers inside and outside the home environment. CHWs also provide a questionnaire to the families to learn more about personal habits of the children with asthma to try to detect and reduce possible asthma triggers.
“Our first home visit was very special; it was great to have the opportunity to help a family in such great need. The expression of the child’s face when he received the asthma kit cannot describe the overwhelming joy we felt to be there,” said Onyx Bazulto, Community Health Worker for Respira Sano Project.
Respira Sano Project will continue the home visits throughout Imperial County.
